Savings size, focus
The size of savings is approached by acquis de conscience on this site. Indeed, this technique was not used repeatedly by Claude Weisbuch. Moreover, except in the Far East where traditional prints use this technique, few contemporary artists use it.
The engravers, in search of a return to the sources, like Gauguin, took the side of archaism, and exploited this technique. This modern trend has also given rise to some masterpieces.
Finally, it is in practical areas that it has persisted.
What is embossed printing or saving size?

We talk about saving size, or “relief engraving” when the support is hollowed out wherever the impression should not have an effect.
The drawing alone is kept at the initial level of the surface of the board, it is said to be “spared” .
This technique is opposed to intaglio in that the hollow parts of the surface are not intended to be inked. Indeed, it is the protruding part of the engraved matrix which is inked
Processes

The main processes are woodcut, linocut and some types of collagraphy .
The inkpad is an example of a savings size, used in everyday life.
Impression
There are basically two methods of printing for etchings: thrift-size printing and intaglio printing . The tools or products used vary from one technique to another, the attentive examination of a print makes it possible to recognize the process used.
A press is not essential for printing short runs. Contact with strong pressure on paper, or another support, produces the print . There is no specific press.
Historical
In the second half of the 19th century, photomechanical processes put an end to the engraving trades. But the principle was still imposed for a century in the sector of commercial printing and newspapers.
Indeed, movable type in printing was also a relief printing technique. As a result, engravings in savings size could be printed next to the text.
